Our Story
Founded in 2021 by vocal freedom explorer and performing artist, Ranessa Theyakaraja during her own healing journey, Women’s Circle of Malaysia (WCM) began as a heartfelt initiative to create safe spaces for women to connect, heal, and grow. Inspired by her experience using performing arts to connect with a woman with dementia, Ranessa discovered the profound power of creative expression in fostering healing and transformation. This became the foundation of WCM’s unique approach.
What started as intimate gatherings has evolved into a creative social enterprise that blends contemporary and traditional performing arts techniques with Biological, Psychological, Social, and Spiritual (BPSS) elements. Through wellness programs, retreats, and arts-based events, WCM helps women unlock their inner worlds, empowering them to break through limits and reshape their outer realities with confidence and purpose.
A vital part of WCM’s mission is reinvesting its profits into programs for at-risk teen girls, offering a holistic health and performing arts programs as tools to navigate challenges like lack of education access, physical and sexual health risks, gender-based violence, mental health issues, peer pressure and substance abuse, cyberbullying and online harassment, limited economic opportunities, visible and invisible disabilities, and more . By creating a safe space for them to explore their creativity, WCM equips girls with the resilience to overcome barriers and embrace their limitless potential.
At its core, WCM is a movement rooted in the belief that transformation begins within. By fostering self-discovery and creativity, we’re rewriting stories, empowering communities, and building a future where every woman and girl can realise her limitless possibilities.
