Tharwa Karina – Woman's Circle Malaysia

Tharwa Karina

Tharwa Karina is a multi-disciplinary artist, currently active as an actor, with deep roots in traditional Malay dance. Beginning her performing arts journey at just 9 years old, she later pursued a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Screen from Universiti Teknologi MARA. Her career spans film, theatre, music, and dance, making her a versatile force in Malaysia’s creative scene.

In 2017, she transitioned into theatre, working with renowned figures like Namron, Jo Kukathas, and Joe Hasham. Her acting debut in IQ.Rock was followed by ventures into writing, directing, music composition, and choreography, including shows like Tari Si Katak dan Cik Merak (2019), Head in the Clouds (2018), and Perempuan 4 Dalam 1 (2021).

2023 marked a turning point for Tharwa when she performed in Macbeth Demystified and joined Saturn’s Return, a devised play exploring female identity in Malaysia. She also travelled across six states in Malaysia with KL Shakespeare Players to share the Bajau Samah folktale, Kanang and the Serimpak, with high school students, further deepening her connection to storytelling and education.

In 2024, Tharwa continued collaborating with KL Shakespeare Players, pushing her boundaries as a storyteller and honing skills in playwriting, devising, and breath-work for actors. Her commitment to creative education aligns with Girls Speak!, where she helps young women find their voice, fostering resilience and leadership through the power of storytelling and the arts.

Tharwa’s experiences in storytelling, theatre, and music provide an invaluable foundation for her work with Women’s Circle of Malaysia, empowering adolescent girls to unlock their potential, and use creative expression as a tool for personal growth and leadership.
